The pattern on this vase is achieved by applying wax over a yellowish glaze and brushing iron oxide over the top. Color is affected by the thickness of the underlying glaze and the varying thickness of the iron. In this piece the movement of the glaze in the firing has altered the tops of the circular shapes.
